Mental Health

About Us

Our Vision

The Mental Health Committee is a national committee of AMMAC dedicated to supporting the emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being of Jamaʿat members through trauma-informed education and faith-aligned mental health awareness.

The committee brings together physicians, mental health professionals, educators, and allied health members to serve the Jamaʿat through education, early awareness, and community-centered initiatives. Our work affirms that emotional and family struggles are not signs of weak faith, but natural responses to chronic stress and unresolved trauma. By integrating modern neuroscience with Islamic teachings, we promote a compassionate understanding of mental health and present Islam as a practical system for emotional regulation, protection, and self-reformation.

Our aim is to foster a trauma-informed Jamaʿat where individuals and families feel emotionally supported, spiritually grounded, and empowered to move from survival to stability and inner peace.

Our Framework

From Survival to Peace

The committee’s educational work is guided by a simple, values-aligned framework that connects psychological healing with Islamic self-reformation:

This framework helps members understand emotional struggles through a compassionate lens and apply Islamic practices as tools for emotional and spiritual regulation.
